Does anyone here have experience with the caliber in a semi auto platform? Or a lead on where a guy might find either a complete unit or an upper?

I think I’ve convinced myself I want one for an upcoming hog hunt.

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

The big push for 6mm is that is all I can currently suppress. I’m also kicking around the idea of 22 Nosler/224 Valkyrie

Hyped maybe. Anemeic? No. While I don't own a 6 creed it more than keeps up with the 243 Winchester that I'm running.

Shooting 55 grain slugs (my preferred coyote bullet), the 243 is at 3,600 fps. 6mm Creed data says it can tickle/touch 4,000.

Can the coyotes tell the difference in a couple hundred fps?

Due to the fast twist (1:7.5) of the 6mm Creedmoor, it is a heavy for calliber, long distance round. I'm hearing some of the long range crowd have moved to it over 6.5 Creed. So really not what a guy would want for close in hunting with 75 gr and less bullets. When you read about it being designed for AR platforms, intended use was the PRS game which is a timed, distance shoot.

Having said that, seems if you want to got to something like 80 to 100 grain bullet, it will work. The 6CM guys tell me it is no problem getting a 103 grain ELD-X up to 3,200 fps in 26 inch barrels. Shorter AR barrels more like 2900 to 3000 fps, but that ought to kill a hog.

Nope.

But I sure as heck can when I’m reaching out and touching one at 800 yards!

I’m shooting the 108 eld-ms right at 3000 with a 20” barrel.

I’m in love with these bullets. 105 coyotes so far with them, one runner that made about 75 yards and another live one that was anchored within feet of where he stood. Everyone else has been deader than disco in their tracks from 50 yards out to 640 yards.

And this is why I always recommend going with a .30 cal suppressor to start with.

While the manufacturers have taken it to obscene levels (walk around in Scheels and you’d swear there isn’t a cartridge besides 6.5 creed anymore) to call it enemic isn’t accurate. Over-hyped, maybe.

Compared to the .308 on equal terms it’s external ballistics will beat it every time.

It’s a solid performer if the goal is wanting to shoot 120-140 grain bullets using a short action.

In my realm of every day shooting I really have no need for a .30 cal suppressor. The .22 cal stuff is way better suited to my everyday use, the numbers on them with smaller bullets show them more efficient and they are generally smaller and lighter as well. I have 7 .22-.243 cans and they have all suited me well. I have a .30 cal in atf jail for about 4 months now but until a week ago have never had a reason or want to suppress anything larger than .243/6mm.

Thanks for the responses though guys!

Boone- do you care to share what rifle you are running? I spent some time on the phone with both dtech and Apf but the barrels are further out than our hog hunt. I am planning on getting ahold of sd rifles over lunch

If you want a quality barrel it's going to be tough to get on in the time frame you are looking for.
