Roys formulas work, but back then ingrediants and todays ingrediants arent the same so its a toss up. If you make his formulas ,keep strict records and testing, use what works....there isnt any shortcuts. Good luck.

Gonna try and revive this thread. Andy's tainted love jad become a fav on my line and I'm wondering where I can get the original formula. Which one of Roy's books has these recipes and does anyone know where to get the book?

Apparently seal oil is sold in Canada but I wonder what would be a good substitute. Or if any kind of quality oil would do. Obviously the seal oil isn't the main attraction with all of the other stuff in it.
Also where would one find this white musk?

Ok that's good to know thank you Paul
Now as to the issue with Seal oil, can another oil that is attractive to k9s and cats be used with equal effectiveness?

You might try some Beaver Tail Oil also? I was hoping this would come up as a possible substitute. I have a pint of it waiting on me to use it. I already plan to make a bobcat gland/rub lure with it.

I've got everything but the white musk and will substitute with BTO.
I'm making a coyote and cat version. Might have enough for 4 gallons of the coyote, and 1 gallon of the cat.
Tracy I'll send you a jar of both to test next season once it's done

Only add the droppings to a small portion of ur batch. You might like it better without them in it. They made my batch go south in a bad way after several months. There's some unproductive bacteria in that stuff it seems from my experience. Yeah that's a good idea. The way I read it was to add scat to the little jar that is used daily after it's been half used or something. So I don't think Roy intended to add scat to the whole batch. It becomes a yeast formula once you add the scat to the little jar, but the batch remains yeast free till it hits the daily use jar.
