Evening folks. I’ve got a pint/pint and a half of bobcat glands that I’m trying not to mess up. Yesterday I removed them from the freezer, ran them through a blender, and added some cat urine to a vented jar. Can I let this just sit for the next year plus as it is? If decided to preserve fresh would I just add some sodium benz to the jar or would something else be better? Thanks

I "set" them fresh, but I add other things to it, have had some success on cats, coyotes and cougars. The other things I add are other animal glands and a very little perfume, plus a grease to freezeproof and weatherize it so it doesn't dry out when it's warm.

Thanks Tom. I’m thinking I may split this in half. Set some fresh and let some fully break down. Do you just use sodium benz when you’re setting fresh?

Hunter I just saw your post as I was gonna make a post about cat gland lures.

I have some good aged glands that I'm about to mix up. I'm not sure what I'm going to add other than some tinctured castor and glycol. I have silver vine but no other glands.

I really like Wayne's Super Cat and it looks like it's fully broke down glands.

Ken I have used and heard great things about broken down cat glands. I just couldnt believe how catty the glands I had smelled fresh. I decided to fully break those down and then whatever I get for the rest of the season will be preserved fresh. I will put both in front of a camera at some point and see what kind of reactions each one gets then figure out how I want to use each in formulation. Good luck with whatever you decide to add to yours! I think Tracy has said that silver vine will be ruined if used with glycol or any other alcohol based products.

Ken you better check with Lazarus I thought about any liquid, oil, grease kills it. That's why he recommends tea bags. My limited understanding it is about impossible to mix in any formulation and still have its affect. But I could be wrong

I could also be wrong, but I think he said olive oil would be a good medium to mix it with. I’m excited to hear how it does for you!
