I know a fella with a bad shoulder. He shot plenty turkeys with 20ga Auto loader with standard trap loads. Kills plenty birds and doesn't beat his bad wing up.
But you asked about reloading.. I did a bunch of patterning with all my different 12ga reloads when I drew my first ever turkey tag. Don't recall there even being dozens different loads on the market then. Anyways at that time I wasn't even loading 3 inch lead. So I used the heavy 1 1/4 oz field loads I had reloaded for ducks before steel. Actually ended up shoot my first bird with my double barreled 10ga goose gun and factory load 4 shot.
Now I prefer to run them turkeys up tree with dogs. Shoot them with high powered rifle.. That my man is hunting.

Why not buy 3 inch 4,5,or 6 shot what you prefer killed birds for years with whatever I could muster up and years ago bought 3 inch 6 shot Fiocci pheasant loads work for me . To me all these fancy shells are like everything else a gimic to make money ... Jon

Well everybody is saying how it is cheaper to buy factory loads than reloading equipment for the few turkey loads you shoot. Thing is it has been four or five years since I have seen a 3 1/2 turkey load on a store shelf.
