Anyone see it? Very interesting but I’m afraid piper and pooper ended up being tender vittles.

I did not see the show, but saw something on Facebook about it. It remined me of a study that an Oregon State student did. A friend taught the young lady how to catch the beaver, she radio collered them, (hole in tail) for transmitter. She released them in suitable habitat that had no beaver. There were eventually 25 caught and transplanted. One was run over by a car, one transmitter failed, and 23 were killed and eaten by mountain lions.

There are suitable beaver habitats in Or. that don't have beaver?

The people relocating the beaver have released over 300 so you would think they know what they’re doing.Looked like a cluster flock to me.

It was successful in Argentina back in the 1940s……lol. Now they’re expanding their boarders, taking what they think is theirs. Hahaha

They have tagged a bunch of the beaver released in Utah. They generally have pretty good survival for the ones released in good habitat. They don’t always stay where released. The ones released in southern Utah in marginal habitat were eaten by lions for the most part.

I watched the show. It looked like they caught that one beaver in a live trap in that above water set. I didn't see anything caught in the Hancock trap set by the culvert.

Mike Rowe is awesome, he'll try anything. He's also pro-hunting, trapping, and pro-gun.

It's not always about catching fish. That's what people who don't catch fish usually say.

That's a whole other story. Prohibiting logging along streams has lined most streams with old growth alder. Also, to much shade. So, it's tough. And then of course the lions.

^^^That's exactly right. A lot fewer beaver in the coast range for two main reasons: The 1971 forest protection act which made logging illegal within 300ft of a class 1 stream, and the later hound hunting ban for cougars.

But according to the do-gooders it's us evil trappers that have done away with them flat tails.
