I still can't believe Finster started this- it sounds like a debate Catch22 would instigate
I'm just asking questions. not trying to start anything. I'm sorry people are taking it that way. I just think that cemeteries, especially military cemeteries, are sacred places and should be preserved as such. I do not think they sould be filmed for profit. That's the entire reason for this thread.
Well Loosey Lefty being ya called me out, I'll be your huckleberry lol. Finster, I've had some doozey's and although this thread doesn't top them, you just sat down by the fire in my camp lol. Jeepers, did ya get into the wine a bit yesterday?
I don't watch Hanks and his kind anymore but to me there was nothing wrong with that scene. If it's done with respect and honor, to me it was, then why keep it in the dark? Why not bring it to light for the young to see, who knows, maybe they're were conversations had that wouldn't have been if they didn't see that scene.
My Gpa was over there. 14th Tank Battalion 9th Armored Division, "The Phantom Nine". He was in France, Belgium, mostly in the Rhineland, battle of the bulge. His unit took the Ludendorff bridge over the Rhine. Gpa passed over a few years after Private Ryan came out, he wouldn't watch it or any war movie no matter what time period or war. He said he seen enough in real time to last a lifetime.
I'm not a vet but I belong to the American Legion, the Sons, through my Gpa. I wasn't in the service, never fought in war. How I figure it is I have no voice in what offends a Soldier until the Soldiers say they're offended or have been slighted. Then it's my job to have they're six. Finster, if your not a member of the Sons and have a DD214 from a qualifying relative, go join. Go hang with Vets, shoot the bull, look at pics of they're Grandbabies or dog. Have a couple beers, play some euchre. It's far more more rewarding than being offended for someone, from home.
