I did in NC for about ten years. Mostly crab pots. Some flounder netting and clams.

You get to see the sunrise everyday and you don’t get calls from your boss.

You will not make much money. Every special interest group is against commercial fishing and the stock is diminishing.

Yes

Crab pot and gill net in chincoteague bay, also have Atlantic striped bass quota that I net in the ocean every spring.

Dad ran a dragger out of ocean city for many years.

How about yourself Yellowbelly?

30+ years on the Bering Sea. Longline cod catcher/processor. Contract out, 1600 ton masters ocean endorsed. Been taking a lot more time off last few years. Fleets half what it used to be, bigger companies buying up permits and quota. Crabbers are really suffering if not out of business.

I used to be a fisherman until the trawlers decimated our salmon run here on the Yukon River. Now we are out of business. I had a Norton Sound herring permit as well but they took that years ago, I didn't have enough points. I also have a freshwater permit and fish Lamprey and Bering Sea Cisco.

I also ran a tender boat for salmon here for eight years and worked on a setnet in Bristol Bay.

I have two gill nets under the ice now just for fresh fish.

Getting my gear ready to set.
Hope to be fishing next week. Its all up to the weather. Need com seas to set my Fyke nets. Can tend them in a little weather. Tending in heavey weather just tears up the nets

Yup, For a little while longer anyways, but as long as the sonic testing keeps killing these whales and blaming fishing its not looking to good .

Probably gonna stick closer to home but the option is open for now. Season is open right now but still pretty early. Winter fishing is not much fun. Between the R Whales, wind farms, protection zones you guys are getting pushed hard.
