No the indigenous governments market their harvesters fur under contract with FHA.
PM Muskrat 411 he can fill you in on his particular marketing program in the Yukon.
NWT has their own as does the James Bay Cree harvesters.
Funny you dont know about it-it was heavily written about in the FHA literature for years after they first were able to secure the exclusive marketing contracts.
Dont you ship there and get the information literature?
This isnt some kind of news, they have had the contracts for years.

So it really has nothing to do with the fur market. It is a indigenous program. I have never shipped to FHA. Back when I was trapping a fair amount They did not have a pick up in ND. I called about setting one up and kept getting passed down the line. After calling about half a dozen people I was told to call the first guy I called. I saw no reason to deal with them since no one could make a decision.

I knew FH dont want southern fur, but northern tier US fur? I guess it's a Canadian thing...

If it is the fur market why isn't it open to all fur producers?

The program boco speaks of is a social program to encourage people to trap in the nwt. They need this program because prices suck. It artificially increases supply which benefits fha. Basically my competitors in canada are subsidized.

Do your own work-get your own government to help market your fur.
Nobody stopping you - if you want a marketing program do it.lobby your representatives like farmers organizations did.

The subsidies to the harvesters has nothing to do with the certification of the northern fur.
It does however ensure that product will be available to the buyers who seek out the labelled goods.

Politicians know which side their bread is buttered on.
If all your constituents are trappers you had better pay them some attention if you want to get voted in.

If you have noticed on Andrews youtube channel he is taking a youth onto the line. The youth gets a grub stake of traps and supplies and cash for gas , and the mentor gets some seed money as well.( and a lot of grey-gray hairs) That zone also has a incentive for wolf harvest as well.
The PQ. Cree that have been displaced by hydro power dams get XXXX amount if they are on the land for so many days a year and a bonus incentive on every animal that is harvested

I have no desire for Government subsidies for fur trapping. We would all be better off if there were less for all walks of life.

Not a whole lot different than shippers that put clearance prices or minimum bid offers on their lots. If I lived 10,000 miles from the live auction and there were flights, hotels, meals and days away from other work, there could well be more money to put into fur so maybe there will be higher maximums on some lots. We will have to wait and see. It is away to bring the buyers to the area and thus add more to the economy and live completative bidding may well cause higher bidding as human behavior becomes part of the process.

So the online buyers put their best bid in the day before, or days before, and the bidder in the room gets the option to raise it a dollar. Or just match it and the buyer in the room gets the fur.

Or the online bidder over bids by some significant amount and ends up stuck for far more than he could have got it on the floor. Could go either way. I don't care if they bid with homing pigeon if it attracts more bidders.
