What is the best route to sell wolverine that have no damaged feet? Advertise on taxidermy.net? Put in the ATA fur auction? Skin it for taxidermy, get it tanned then sell it? Sell it whole frozen?

This is all new to me, never sold a single hide.

I always skin for taxi and get tanned then sell. Usually have a waiting list that want em. Also I often include the cleaned skull and baculum that go with the specific fur for additional $$.

I would try taxidermy.net. I've sold quite a bit of stuff on there. Often saves you some work, you can green skin, leave head and feet in, ship frozen. PM me if you want.

I SUCK at stretching, drying but especially fleshing so I pay a guy locally to do that part for me, taxidermy quality. Then I sell the dried skins to a local fur buyer. I already put a big hole in one this year trying to do it myself. I need to practice on something like a fox, I guess.

I have 3 wolverine frozen with feet, tail and head in, right now. Once I get them sealed at the end of the season I will likely go the same route I have in the past, as it it 100% worth it to me to pay~$60 per critter to have it done right. I am sure I make more than that back when selling, as to compared to what I would get if I did that work myself and jacked it all up.

What do they sell for, roughly, for a good male that has been professionally put up on Taxidermy.net?

The prices vary, a lot! As said above, most taxidermists prefer to do the head and feet themselves.
Some want a dorsal cut, others ventricle.

There's no one way that's truly the "best". It all comes down to circumstance and the individual critter. The SCCATA Fur Rondy auction is always a good choice. The taxi market is a great way to go especially if it's a really nice, large or unique specimen. It all comes down to where you think you can get the best price for it and the amount of work and logistics you want to handle to get it sold. In my experience raw wolverine average $4-500 and tanned average $5-600 at local auctions.

If you have good pics, try taxidermy.net. There is a for sale forum there. If the critter is frozen whole you could try selling that way, tho shipping might be a deal breaker. I sold a lot of fox, lynx, and some wolverine to taxidermists when I lived out west. Dorsal skin with feet in and frozen. Sold lynx and wolverine skulls separately. Shipped express mail to lower 48 buyers. Express is pretty high now.
Fur auction might be better.

In my heart.... I know that the ventricle cut is the best!

Sorry AV, could not resist harrassing you about your spell check issue!

Pete I had that stuck in my head and actually said ventricle cut during a presentation the other night. I might have been the only one that was amused by my slip up
