Hey fellow trappers! Part 1 of my moose hunt from this last fall up in the Brooks Range is complete. I'm still relatively new to Youtube so this is my first time setting up a premiere for one of my videos. It is set to play at 6pm Alaska time and I will be on the chat answering questions. Thanks guys. Not sure if I would try to be on TV unless they give me creative control. I’m not the guy that gets told what to do or say. I’m heavily opinionated but these videos we’ve been putting up are to bring people together over the love of the outdoors not to separate. Which is a bit of how I see the Alaska TV shows. We might be in the bush but planes land here in my village multiple times a day getting out to the city is less than 200$ and a 1.5 hour flight. Posting in this community has definitely helped with my morale when it comes to YouTube. My channel has been growing quickly and it’s been in big part from the guys here on trapperman. Again Thanks!

Didn't get a good look at the motor. Prop or jet? Did you buy the boat in Fbks and drive to Venetie from the bridge? You're heading towards Arctic Village in looks like.

The outboard is a 75hp Yamaha with a jet lower unit. I bought the boat off a friend almost 6 years ago. He lives in the village below mine where my wife is from, so all we had to do is drive it 3.5 hours back to Venetie. Most boats that come this way put in at Circle city and drive down to Fort Yukon then to Venetie. Yeah we almost made it to Arctic Village on this hunt.

What kind of mileage do you get out of that rig? 4 stroke? Looks like about 20 to 25 mph on plane. Is that right?

The mpg is not great with the jet lower I have a crazy amount of hours on it. I usually use the burn time a bit more to gauge fuel spent. So between 6-8 gallons per hour depending on weight in the boat. No load speed 25-34, load speed 17-22. Numbers are against the current and with. We’re looking into getting a 90hp jet drive. For a bit of extra push

Do supply barges ever get up to Venetie or Arctic Circle in the spring when the water is higher or are those villages supplied by air only?

Yeah the water is usually a foot shallower. The last day out there the water goes up again. Very odd for that time of year. The barges haven’t made it here in at least 15 years because of the changing river. But it changes every year. We’re working on a ice road down toward the Yukon where the barge can land. But still a few years out
