Are they selling in US dollars? Euro's in the past maybe USD today. Google Sojuzpushnina and you can see the results, looks like the Kamchatka's did much better than everything else, especially the ranch goods.

Here is a comparison of the skins from different "martens" or better yet; sables. The two skins in the right (americana and caurina) are from marten I caught and had tanned many years ago. They have oxidized and become much redder than they were originally. Starting from the left is a Martes martes or pine marten from northern Sweden, next is a Martes zibellina from Siberia Russia, next is a Martes americana from Alaska, and finally a Martes caurina from Washington. The second picture is their belly sides. The two most similar are the Alaskan and the Siberian. The pine marten is definitely the coarsest. I wish the Alaska marten hadn't turned so red. It was a beautiful dark chocolate brown originally. Here is a close-up of the Siberian skin showing some white hairs sprinkled in. Sometimes I get similar skins in SE Alaska. Two years ago I had one of those skins make it in the true "Top Lot" of 20 skins out of 60,000 at Fur Harvester's.

BTW, I know it's a hard habit to break, but North American marten are not "pine marten". It irks me a little when I sometimes even hear biologists call them that. Calling them that is akin to calling a bobcat a Canada lynx, or visa versa.

Did you grow up in a family that was involved in trapping, fur selling, fur markets, Tatiana? Nope, I'm a de novo imposter I just try to learn what I need for my purposes, both in the woods and in the lab.

So what are we looking at here? 4 lots of 4 each, 2 unsold, 1 sold for 135.00 (per skin presumably?) and the lot of 4 silver sable bid at $184??? I'm not sure what 2.2 means in this particular grading system, perhaps tone/clarity, but 184 is the lot number, 4 is the color, on the Soviet state standard 2 to 7 scale, with 2 being the darkest, and 7 the lightest (now sometimes extended to 8 and 9, because of the increased demand for lighter sable, with the color 9 including albinos/canaries), and sil. is silvering/sedina, which is the same as sprinkling in the American grading system, which is graded from 0 to 5 (0 means no white guard hairs, 5 means half of all guard hair is white). A color 3 or 4, sil. 2 sable is among the most beautiful sable colors, actually, because it is instantly recognizable as natural undyed sable yet dark enough for the sedina to be instantly visible. Higher grades of sedina still command higher prices but subjectively such skins have a grayish, grizzly appearance, and are often not as pretty as grade 2 sedina, which looks like starry night in a garment:) here's a close-up of a Yakutian color 4 sable with grade 2 sedina: Excellent explanation

Get the odd one here with orange toes and white tipped tails. I take the smaller less desireable colours and tan them myself for private sale.
