You're on the west side of the cascades? No limit on cats, correct? East side has a limit?

That is correct. 5 cats for eastern Oregon (those are the high dollar ones), and 15 cats per card for western Oregon with no limit on card purchases. As you see ferns and such I'm in western Oregon. Sagebrush would be the predominant vegetation for eastern.

So peeler, if a guy hit western cats real hard could he do better than the guy with 5 eastern cats? Money wise I mean. I'm assuming not every eastern cat brings high dollars.

I would think with advancing cat prices bringing up the lower end stuff that yes, the potential is higher with an unlimited harvest. Probably takes 3-4 western Oregon bobcats to make one eastern. I also think that overall one would spend less time and gas on the western Oregon cats. And every once in a while you get a very nice western Oregon cat. Maybe $2-300

The beauty of the carcass line is it conserves quite a bit on fuel. The big scent coming off a carcass makes it highly likely to be eventually discovered by a cat or other meat eater. But I don't need to be driving out there every day or every other day to check if no traps have been set yet. When I do go I just set traps where I know a cat is working the carcass.

Nice! I buried a couple beaver carcasses behind the house once and caught 3 coyotes that week trying to dig them up. Never could catch them on any other set or bait used but they absolutely wanted that carcass.
