Who has been there and did you like it? Guess we are going sometime this spring. What are some of the must see places.

Went there for a company Truck Roadeo comp so most of my time there was planned out but definitely visit the historic sites and try to get some surfing in.

Hawaii has 8 islands that a person could go see. So you would have to be more specific as to where you are going and time you have to spend there. Surfing is not something most people can do without practice and time spent to learn.

Pearl Harbor, also you may want to catch a Luau if you're interested. We drove around a lot of the island but I can't remember the road we were on (sorry) but it was pretty scenic. There were several places to pull over and take a couple pictures or go for a hike if you want. If you're on the beach you can look and see Diamondhead.
This is if you're on Oahu and we stayed in Wakiki.

We went to Pearl Harbor and a PRIVATE Luau. A lot of the Beaches have issues with Homeless. We did a lot of Snorkeling and spearing. Just make sure you are legal for it.

God please keep they 19 fallen UBB miners out of trouble up there.

Spent a week in Oahu and did Pearl Harbor, drove around the island and took a day trip (flight/bus tour) to the Big Island that included Volcano National Park. Unfortunately, this was a couple months before Kilauea started it's last round of eruptions that is still going on. The Big Island and the volcanoes would be a must for me if I was to go back. Having seen Oahu, I would opt to stay on one of the other islands (probably the Big Island) and do day trips to 2 or 3 of the other islands.

Got married on a beach in Kauai. Appropriately named Shipwreck Beach.

Gotta go, wife is comsdkcmsdvXCLM

Seriously, stayed one night in Honolulu. That was enough. Got to see the USS Arizona, which is why we stayed there our first night. Big city, just nicer views. Kauai, though was phenomenal! NW coast is so rugged, the road that circles the island doesn't go there.

Stayed a few days in Oahu on Waikiki beach . Pearl harbor is a great visit for the history , although I was disappointed to find at the end of such a tragic storyline there is little to no mention of the USA kicking some Jap arse ......what gives ?

Honolulu is just like any other hole city

The 2nd half of our trip we hopped a plane over to Kauai and stayed a few days
Much more enjoyable , laid back ........rented a Jeep and explored the entire island .
Went snorkeling several times and would definitely go back

Only bummer was I could not find an authentic burrito or taco to save my arse . I guess Hawaii is a much farther
Swim than swimming across the Rio . The people of Hawaii must not like anything spicy because ......it was all bland . If I ever go again I'll be bringing my own salsa and tortillas

The Vink for chief moderator....night shift ...11pm- 5am best coast time zone.....Free Marty

In 1969 I took R&R from Viet Nam to Maui. I spent a week there with my wife before returning to Viet Nam. Maui was beautiful; huge waterfalls, clear fresh and salt water beaches, excellent food, etc. I am sure that things have changed tremendously since then.

Yes, go, but follow some of the advice above and don't waste too much time on Oahu.

Third week of being here. Plenty to do you just have to plan for it. All my adventures are diy. Big island has the easiest access hunting. Fishing is pretty good but sometimes hard to figure out. The islands are kind love hate. Lots of nice people and lots who feel the other way.

Swim some. Fish some. Hunt if you can make it happen. The more you get sucked into the tourist traps the worse these islands are.

I would still like to go see the memorials and the volcanos, but other than that I have lost most of my desire to make that trip a priority anytime soon. Everyone I know who has went in the last 5 years say its a WAY overrated trip. One of my daughters who travels a lot, went last year and says she wished they would have saved the money to go somewhere else. She was very disappointed in their trip.
