Picked up a big road kill tom a few weeks back, didn't have time to put him up so I stuck him in the freezer. Pulled him out last night and let him unthaw in my unheated garage. Got him skinned out this morning and fleshed, I noticed a few small patches of fur down by his back ankles that slipped but that was about it. He had quite a bit of blood from the assumed bumper to the cranium, so I dunked him in a small trash can full of cold water to rinse the blood out. As I was wringing the water out I started to notice some major clumps of fur slipping off his back in between the shoulder blade area and up around the neck. The belly fur is still all in tact from what I can see. Is this cat worth the time finishing or toss him? How big of a dock would a cat like this receive from a buyer? Kind of a shame because he's a big 30+ pound Tom with a nice white, spotted belly.

If you’re sending it in for the fur trade it’s garbage. If you want to tan it and make some mitts or ear muffs with it, it’s probably doable.

No buyer is going to take a chance with that much damage.

Maybe I'll salvage as much as possible and tan out the belly.
