I have sealed the house the best I can, leaving one opening with a colony trap over it and snap traps in the attic. Access inside is easy inasmuch as there is always someone home. I have taken 8 in the past 5 days. Any ideas on how many there are normally in a colony?

The magical google box says up to 20.

Thanks, Wally

Two to 19 is what I have taken from one house. No set number that I know of.

44 is my record over 6 days. Twice at 28. Average 8-10.
If you found all the entries it shouldn't take more than 4 days to clean them out with a colony trap. So if you're still catching them at day 5 in snaps, you missed a hole.

And it's easy to miss a hole. Fliers are as bad if not worse than bats at finding those holes you can't see.

And they'll make a new one if they feel like it.

26 flyers is the most I've taken out of a Adirondack log cabin.

A friend got 35 and 53 out of his own house in rat traps. He probably still has a bunch. We got 15 out of the living room in our house in positive sets and one rat trap. Was on the computer one night, heard the trap go off. Had one. About a half hour later got another one. A half hour after that got a third one all in the same rat trap by the back door. Not fond of flyers either. One year I got the last one on Christmas morning, Merry Christmas! I think that was number 14. Actually the trap hit him and killed him but did not catch him. I'll take the win any way I can get it. Thanks to the cable guys they left a small slot when they mounted the dish. Told them to take it down. They said no. I said, cut my service. They took it down and put the soffit back together.

Some of the service guys doing that kind of work with installs don't have a clue as to what problems they cause the consumer.

We have seen many ADC jobs over the years that were the direct result of their poor work ethic and how they leave a job. Mouse, bat, bird and squirrels.

Exactly Bob. Now you know why, as an old guy, I like the being part of the ground crew, skunks, chucks, chipmunks. Glad they are not found in soffits and attics.

Jim, I found a skunk in a church attic once. No ladder needed though. It went up a long flight of stairs from ground floor. Went over a knee wall into a crawlspace.
