Who plants food plots and what type of drill is everyone using?

We don't use a drill. We till the soil then run a drag across it then broadcast. Run a drag across it again we are done then. This is for clover and similar small seed.

I just broadcast the seeds then roll em in with a cultipacker works good.

My "food plots" are fields planted in ryegrass for winter grazing, and to make silage hay. We use a John Deere 8000 grain drill.

I use a 6 foot pto tiller, then broadcast seed and cultipack. Soil test is just as important as planting the seed. Get your PH up around 6-7 and fertilize as the crop needs.

Also plant before a good soaking rain if possible, timing to rainfall really makes a difference in stand and growth.

Truax and Great Plains both make 6 ,8 &10 foot no till drills that can be used to plant both grass seed and grain seed . They are nice when planting smaller areas.

I have a 7' Great Plains no-till drill that has a small seed box for clover and a warm season grass box and a third one for beans and other seeds. I love it, it does a great job.

I spray to kill weeds and then till and let set for a few weeks , it will come up green with dormant seed then spray again and till and broad cast seed and then cultipacker
