Picked up several of these wall mount cast iron hooks at an estate sale, thought I might display dressed fur on them or whatever. They look like -they may have had a specific purpose, candle drying store display? Any ideas (not sharp enough for Pig Castrator).

Agree with Nimzy, cool looking. No idea what they were used for originally.

Just guessing , but looks like something that can pull fences tight or something like that. Just a guess.

I have some similar. Mine were used as tack hooks for hanging horse equipment. Mine actually can be collapsed to hang down the wall, out of the way. They are about 2 ft. long and made of cast iron. They do not have the little hooks on them. I believe they have patent date of 1918 and the manufacturer cast into them.

Mine are over in storage now or I would post a pic of them...

Do your have anything cast or embossed on them to give an idea of origin? They seem pretty heavily built and that may give some clue to their purpose.

Now that you mention it- I can visualize that... now all we need is an old horseman to weigh-in.

I think store display

like a shirt display you would see the collar of every shirt the hangers would all stay evenly spaced and they would probably be hung above eye level. the bottom of the shirts would all nearly line up with the 2xlt in the back and the med in the front

I could also see them in a tack room

My first thought is bridle hooks too. If newer replicas I could seeing them being used as a hat rack.

Back during the day those were good little motors. I can remember it being common to see one on the river.
Neptune, Mighty Mite were the same company. They quit making them sometime in the 70s.
