There was an engineer outfit near us in Long Binh, who's motto was "We Prevent Forests".

Nope, but that stuff grew back fast the reason for agent orange. Im guessing they might have got the idea from WW 2 putting make shift shears and blades on the tanks in WW 2 during the Normandy Invitation to get through the hedge rows.

That Le Tourneau fellow was a genius. He made all kinds of cool stuff.

You should read the story of his life and how he got started. We had to read it when I went to school at Le Tourneau University

I was in the SeaBees in the delta, never seen anything like that. Dozers and agent orange was the tool down there. Way to wet for some think as big as that.

The areas I was in were either straight up or down. Looks like a good idea but most of the terrain would not handle it.

In the central highlands, most of the larger equipment was not handy or useful. Used a lot of defoliant and other ways to burn stuff off.

After the war Weyhauser (sp) had a machine that was brought back from VN. It took seven trucks or four train cars to move it to new locations. It was amphibious. Reduced woodland to chips. Was over ten feet wide. Built for our military. Was a site to see and very loud.
