Count me out -- with our current leadership (politically and millitarily) - not a chance. If I needed a way out -- canada does not look very promising either - Mexico would be amuch safer option. Before anyone labels me a coward let me say for the record - If a civil war were to break out i would be in the middle of it , but I do not blindly follow orders.

In the USA the reality is that less than 1% of the entire population serve in the military so my guess is not many.

I'd be more worried how many military people would stand to orders given them if they had to face off with the country's civilians !

In the last week I'm starting to be concerned I might really have to be checked out for MS. Thought it was just a spin issue with the pain in my back the will drop me to my knees and my numb leg and tingling foot. But today feeding the bees I got dizzy and almost fell over. So I'm not sir how much longer I'm going to be useful. Scary to actually admit that for the first time.

I wouldn't touch this thread with a 10 foot pole, HOWEVER, I will say 2 things: If my country needed me, I would be there. #2: The men that DID go and serve (anytime, anywhere) will always get a tip of my hat and have a seat at my table.

Suppose to go there for three weeks next month on a tour of VN and Cambodia. May get cancelled because of illness of a key member in our group.

I am past 70 and I would go now ,and probably be dead in a day or so but if I was needed again I would go or at least die protecting my home and family.
