I think there was some bad weather in Anchorage last weekend, hopefully it didn't keep too many people away.

The weather was fine both days but it did get a little cloudy for a while on Saturday. Bidding was hot on Saturday with a pretty massive crowd then averages fell some on Sunday with less participation. Selling was cut short a bit on Sunday. It's supposed to be pretty chilly this Saturday for the last day of fur sales but Saturday will be the ceremonial start for the Iditarod so there usually is a good crowd that forms, especially once the dogs are on their way. It looks like there will be some lynx left over, had a large consignment of them and probably won't be able to move the all, and no doubt some other furs left over as well but hopefully not too many. Many items will be sold out or are already sold out. Lots of selfless volunteer hours put in by the ATA to pull it off but it's a great community and family event, with lots of kids holding up fur and helping it all go down. We are fortunate to have the fur and trapping culture we have here in Alaska.

Drasselt summed it up perfectly. We cut the auction a little short on Sunday, the averages were down just a hair but still good prices. Unfortunately I didn't have time to take videos or pictures during the auction last weekend but I'll do my best to get some this Saturday. We had a couple surprising anomalies on Saturday with one raw wolverine hitting the 1k mark and a tan white wolf hitting the 2k mark. Not something you see very often at a trappers sale. Here are the only pictures I took during A.M set up

A huge thanks to all the SCTA guys who work so hard to put on this incredibly important event and others around the state who put fur in.

Despite some economic hiccups, the EXPOSURE that trapping and fur and trappers get from this activity is invaluable.

Wow what a day. Sold out of everything except these cats. Maybe 5 other pieces left. Good sale.
