You never really own your home. Even after the mortgage is paid you have to keep paying those taxes. If you don't the sheriffs will come and take your home from you and sell it. Yup! And I hate that! I just told my wife a few days ago, once we pay off our mortgage we’ll still have to pay $500 a month for taxes. Big time ripoff!

My house value according to the county went up $50,000 this year. Bringing it to a grand total value of near $200,000. We paid $52,000 for the place in 2013. I don't know about inflation, but the county assessor must have stopped at the bar for lunch before he came to my house.
We also owe money on income taxes this year (over $2,000). I have claimed 0 my entire working career and never ever owed a penny ever. I guess I will have to cut back on my lavish style of living to pay more taxes so others can sit at home. County assessors went nuts this year.Every property owner in Mn. is seeing this. We have a 17 billion dollar surplus!

Mine are $13,000.00 a year. 4 BR colonial on 28 acres. Thanks for posting that. I have a newer 2 story 4 br on 26 acres. we pay "only" $8800. Now that I can see it truly could be worse I don't feel so bad.

My evaluation increased for 2023 by $255,000.00 and I have done no improvements to the property for over 25 years. That is a 66% increase in value. My taxes for this year increased 22%. I have a small 2bedroom, one bath home and live on 2 acres but have 125 feet of lake shore. I am not the only one getting stuck like this. Many people are seeing a 300 grand plus increase in valuation here. Not happy. MN with such a huge surplus too. And then to add insult to injury, the democratic legislature is looking at bills to take away our firearm and trapping rights. Living on a fixed income with these taxes, I will need my firearms and traps to survive.

I'm just happy to be here! Today I'm as young as I'll ever be and and older than I've ever been before!

Ours have doubled in the last 5 years. Wealthy nonresident’s paying astronomical prices for land here have been killing us.
