By no service i mean taking the box it comes in out into the middle of nowhere and setting it up. Explorenet was a real hassle to set up and you needed a satellite finder to get it up and running, but you also had to have some things downloaded beforehand.
From what i understand Yukon that service is available with Starlink, but it does not come with the $110/month subscription you pay for regular service. Regular service the receiver is tied to a certain location/address and it has to stay there.
I heard that the rich folk that have yachts and such out in the ocean with no service use a form of Starlink that they can set up on their yacht no matter where they are. It's for the elite though, I heard it cost over $500/month!
We paid the highest amount for the fastest from Hughesnet for years. It sucked, but all we could use, cause no cell service here either. Could not even use a hotspot. Also had cable TV. Could not stream shows, do zoom meeting/Teams meetings etc. This really stunk in 2020 when everybody was forced to do that.
I got Starlink in January 2021 after a one year wait. Absolutely hands down worth every penny. No more buffering, can do Zoom meetings, and can send texts with pictures. We turn WiFi calling on on the phone now and can send texts call and hear just fine with zero delays.
Not having any cell service or dependable internet was hard on our life. I think if something hadn't changed, we would be forced to have had to move from our property.
-Kre we did that very thing. Now that we have Starlink, we ditched DishNetwork and got FUBO TV; also able to ditch Hughesnet saving us a bunch of money. FUBO has everything we want to watch from local news to sports and has a lot of good entertainment too. We also Stream Netflix every now and then with no issues.
With that said, other than Jesus Christ, one man has not had a more profound impact on my standard of living and ability to do my job than Elon Musk. Love Starlink!
