Well was supposed to be doing other stuff today but plans change and I have a extra day off now so figured I'd do some more work with the hornet. Stock it was letting off at 5.5 lbs I think. Well broke her down , buffed the pins ,worked in a new rebounding hammer , modified some points on the hammer and trigger , greased every thing up along with a spritzing of graphite lock lube aaannnnndd actually a little one the too light side laugh not by much and im pretty hapoy with it honestly. Now.... Considering trying to modify the grove to move my hand closer confused

nice , I wouldn't mind a handy , but they seem to be very hard to find in any caliber I want one in or very expensive around here

for the mean time I told myself more ammo. not more guns this year

Try finding .22 Hornet ammo for the last 4-5 years. If you hear of any RUN to the store. AND, save your brass.

I just honed mine with a razor hone. replaced the trigger spring. Didnt have to buy anything. not sure i would try that now. when I did it NEF was still making guns, I figured if I screwed it up parts would be easy to get.

Wolfie, this is interesting! I haven't been in for a bit, because busy elsewhere. So, I missed when ever ye started talking about a Hornet.

But, I caught the title and started reading, thinking; " He's never got a NEF 'Handy', like I had?! Needed a Bear Trap Setter to squeeze that nightmare trigger! "

And, yep! Here we are! grin Horrible, Horrible thing to make fire! I'd be out after targets with an old mate of mine. I'd be prone, rifle pointed at the target. And I'd be reassuring him:

" I'm squeezing the trigger, mate. I'm on target and squeezing hard. Give it time. " Horrible thing! LOL! Why I didn't just get a .223, like everyone else, I'll never know. Spent more on rounds for the thing than I paid for the whole rifle! grin

If only you'd been closer!

That is exactly the opposite of what I have found. Mine stretches alot and splits about a 1/4 above the rim. And it is just as bad when made into 17 ahi. Whenever I take one of my 3 rifles out I have to bring a home made extractor with.

I wonder if older brass from just a few years back isn't better quality. It wouldn't be very surprising.
