Hmmm.........Those prices seem to be a step up from some of the earlier Groeny prices.

Lack of supply for GFW making the prices go up for the "undesirable" fur...?

The market for beaver, and especially Otter is on the upswing, that's what markets do. GFW simply adjusts for the market. No different than the S&P or the DOW. How many folks are willing to invest when the any market is in a nosedive, unless they believe it's at the bottom and about to have an uptick. No, I don't think I'd want to invest in coyotes for some while, they appear to be the "new coons". And yep, shortages do cause the much hoped for upturns.

Even at today's prices those must have been some ugly coon for that low an average.

57 coon, 4 beavers, 2 fox , 2 otters everyone with put up fur averaged about the same size I have no idea . He knew what he was going to pay before he looked at the fur. Me and my cousin were both happy because we have no other option except FHA who refuse to sell anything. I held back a couple beavers and an otter to ship to FHA and I will have a few more beavers and I’ll bet a dime to a donut that after everything is deducted the price will be no different probably less.

I'll see your dime and raise you a donut....that you'll do better on your beaver at FHA. Of course, if I'm wrong I'm only out a dime and a donut! grin

I once shipped a small allotment of our Willamette river crapola beaver to Don Wolf (he begged me to since he wanted to see an Oregon beaver pelt) and he claimed it was similar to Indiana/Tennessee beaver. How does Illinois stack up to those?

On the other hand, a large % of our coastal beaver will grade semi-heavy and are really very nice brown to dark chocolate color.
