Who’s done it and what has been your experience with it?
I’m just starting it and I will say I’ve been the kind of person that’s been able to eat what I want when I want but I’d like to lower my BP. I’ve never been a sweets guy so the idea I can eat the fatty foods is appealing to me.
Add some vigorous exercise, lots of water and add a tablespoon of fiber to all your drinks and whatever you can add it to.
Been on a nutrition diet for some time. If my nutritionist taught me anything, fiber is the game changer. It helps your body digest carbs smoother without the spike. I get 12-15 tbsps a day of oat fiber.
side note: it does NOT make you poop more.
This^^^
Most of us would not recognize the bread our ancestors ate. It was dark, heavy, made noise when it hit the plate and actually had nutritional value. The garbage that passes for bread now is a loaf of easily convertible sugar. But it tastes pleasant and can sit on a shelf forever because it has no nutrients to go bad.
The reason we're all so fat isn't the carbs... At least not by themselves. When we process wheat, rice, etc... now we remove all of the bran and fiber. Fiber is hard (or impossible) to digest which slows the absorption of sugar into the bloodstream.
If there isn't enough (or any) fiber the carbs are easily broken down into sugar and spike your blood sugar. This triggers the pancreas to release insulin which immediately converts all of that sugar into fat. You literally starve while getting fat. Which is the reason for your sluggish carb coma feeling.
I'm not sure you can even get the kind of wheat flour our ancestors ate... I'm betting the "whole wheat" stuff they sell now doesn't even come close. You're probably better off just eating meats/fat. I was amazed at the energy, clarity, and focus I had when I was in ketosis. I could get by eating one meal a day if there was enough fat in the meat... No shakes, no trembles, no weakness. It's just a miserable time getting through the withdrawal from carbs, but worth it once you get there.
And I will second the lots of water advice too.
