IMO the DG is way ahead of the game when it comes the looming meltdown. If they can get inventory.

but you didn't go in , they look like that for a while on the outside but the inside doesn't stay nice for long

the new 3-4 years ago one in Orfordville WI looks like that outside and it is better inside but still a lot of clutter everywhere

the fire marshals around the area keep shutting down DG stores , they get inventory huge distribution hub in Janesville WI but have no employees to put it away so it fills the isles and becomes a fire hazard. so they get shut down until they get it put away and re-inspected.

unless something changed DG is paying might low when the gas station across the street is offering 15 an hour , although they gas station has a clean restroom promise so I guess if you have a real aversion to cleaning restrooms maybe DG is the job for you.

smaller package that is more per unit than if you bought the larger one at the grocery store or other store , but since they count on the convenience of it being close to the trailer park and the pay check to pay check consumer and their lack of math proficiency. they thrive.

Seems to me Dollar General maybe just the newest. Jupiter, Bellscott, Walmart, Dollar Store. everyone loves them when they first open. Then go to complaining about them for some reason.
I just wish I could drive past one when the wife is with. I call it the crap store she always finds something..
Although I did find canning lids during the big lid fiasco and they worked.

As many new ones as there is popping up, I wonder if they are owned by China.

We have Dollar Tree here... went up to a Buck twenty-five. They put in one isle of 3 to 5 dollars .

I only go into Dollar General when I have to in Deadwood SD.

I generally avoid this dollar store. I do go to Family dollar once in awhile.

Dollar General here is nice. Go to it all the time. Cleaning supplies especially laundry detergent are priced great.
Buy lots of dried fruit cheap also

The 1.25 store here is the Ten Bit Store.

Never been to a Dollar General, but I have been to a Dollar Store a couple of times. I tried the laundry detergent; yes it was cheap, but it was so watered down that you had to use at least two or three times as much of it as any national brand. I used to buy reading glasses there, not anymore, they fall apart within days. Mostly Chinese and other foreign junk imo.

General Five Dollars

The rich folk got their Wal Marts. The rest of us got Dollar General.

In our town we have a small overpriced and understocked grocery store dedicated to gouging tourists. Locals stock up at Pick-n Save 20 minutes away or Walmart 30 minutes away. A couple of years ago we got a local Dollar General. When we need something quick they have it. It is very convenient. Like anywhere, you must be aware of prices. They must pay poorly because they are always understaffed and looking to hire.
