Just doing what I want now.

I think the deli paper is just precut wax paper. I'm cheap, or old fashioned, or something, I just pack a roll of wax paper and rip off what I need.

av it is waxed paper smile Just comes packaged differently then on a roll. One sheet torn in half will cover top and bottom of the trap. I tend to trash rolls especially when it gets wet the and box falls apart. I am thinking if I tape the box up on these it will last a little longer an be more convenient for my needs.

Got it. I sympathize with your freeze-thaw, freeze woes. Hope your weather stabilizes.

That’s what I do. Cover whole box except the top slot with duct tape. Not bomb proof but works well

Well it has been pretty slow and this weather isn't helping much,, Last run it was -15 todays run was +34 pretty crazy.
Did pick up another cat though. Last 3 runs I seen it's track and knew it was a matter time before it hit gear.

A first for me smile That #4 Duke swallowed those paws smile

This set has taken 3 lynx this season, I think it is on location smile

Sweet! Dang tough keeping gear working in those changing conditions.

Rumors of my assimilation have been greatly exaggerated.

Had same thing happen one time. Snow sign said a lynx was checking out a mink box. On the chance that it would come back set the only thing I had on me at the time which was a # 2 double long spring. Next check had the cat by one toe from each front foot. Was back in the day and so had no camera to document. But it sure happened.

That trap has some jaw spread to fit both those big feet in it.

Things have been really slow down here. Picked up a little ermine an that has been it.
Pulled marten gear today.
Finally have some yotes hitting a bait station. With all the dead moose around pulling them in seems like a chore but the birds are getting fat and happy smile.
This weather is no help. 3 inches of the wet heavy stuff followed +40 yesterday and rain. Got all the kitty sets cleaned up and relured, gonna give it a few days for colder temps then redo the k9 sets.

Be safe out there guys!

That weather sounds like a real pain the rear. Hoping it didn’t hit my line too badly. Couple more weeks then it’s time to pull it all up for me.

Well I shut down the office today. I had a great start to the season but since the big dump of snow we had at the end of December things have been pretty much dead.

All the moose pushed out of their normal winter range and the calves took a hammering this year. I picked up 6 another buddy 22 and another 8. Not a good year for them.

For the lack of K9 sign I saw this year I was thinking something had to have happened. After speaking to my buddy that traps on the other side of the river he kinda confirmed what I thought. Right before the big dump he rolled up on a yote that had matted down fur, missing all but a tuff of hair on its tail and was just out there in lala land. He gave it to F/G and they told him it had lice and mange. I wouldn't be surprised of distemper didn't make a run through the area as well.

Other then the 1 otter I caught and the 2 mink at the house I saw zero track or sign.

Had a few of these............missed the pan by an inch.

This one was spot on.

[Linked Image]

After checking his leg out and determining he was good I ended up letting him go, seed for next year,

[Linked Image]

Got to help out at Fur Rondy and see how my fur faired, I cant express how grateful I am for the ATA and this auction. Sold everything and watched 2 of my lynx go for $270 each. Enjoyed working with the youngsters smile and guessing how much things would sell for.

[Linked Image]

Not the greatest of seasons with 3 fox 3 yotes 4 marten and 8 cats. I did enjoy the time I got to spend out there and was a cheer leader for a few of my buddies that were connecting smile Got to spend some time with Laramy, Matt, Jeff, Cory, and even had Ted come down and do a run with me.

Looking forward to the fling and hope to see a bunch of you guys there!

Time to start getting ready for beaver and bears smile

Be safe out there guys!

Hope everyone had a good spring and summer!

Mine didn't go as planned this year.

My cancer raised it's ugly head again the end of February. For whatever reason the medicine I was on stopped working. Doc put me on a new one and last scan showed it was kicking butt pretty good. That put a damper on getting after the spring beaver.

I smacked a nice little brownie the end of June and while cleaning it managed to sink my fillet knife into my fore arm. Took a trip to the ER got 4 stitches and a shot. 10 days later my fore arm swelled up from a infection. Ended up spending a few days in the hospital.

End of July came off the river from fishing for silvers and ended up at the ER this time for a heart attack. 2 stints and a week in the hospital finally got out.

Hoping everything is back on track before the trapping season kicks off.

So that is the negative........

Here is the positive,,,,,,,,,

Got to go down to 20 Mile and do a little hooligan fishing with Laramy. That guy is a hoot to hang out with smile

John from Team V here on T man hooked me up with a bunch of bear baiting stuff from Glacier Bear Products out of North Pole. I can not express enough the gratitude I have for his generosity. I am forever hooked on his bubble gum formula. His burn stuff is a liquid that you add to water and simmer, 1 bottle and you get at least 8 burns out of it. His cover scents linger like none I have used before. I had over 8 different brown bears and a dozen different black bears come in on my stand alone. I shared with a few of my buddies and they are hooked as well!

[Linked Image]

I got to spend last week up in TOK with Ted chasing moose. Saw one legal bull but it was dark and when I realized that yep it is legal it stepped out of sight. Always a good time and conversation with Ted smile His HOT Latches and Meowch will be available through MTP year! Pretty excited for him!

And it is never to early to start advertising for this!!!

Hunting season is pretty much in full swing through out the state. Be safe out there guys and I hope you connect!

Wow what a summer, hope your fall/ winter goes better! Never tried any of that commercial bear baiting stuff sounds like it works well though. Are hooligan the same as " candle fish "? Someone gave me some dried whole candle fish once and it was awesome! Good luck " looking around " out there.
