FH has said that there won’t be any PT sales until after the whole auction is over. Which means late Wednesday or most likely Thursday mornin.

With the way come items are selling, the PT offering will be mighty slim.

Pretty good marten sale for me.
About double from a couple years ago.

And castor prices are going in the opposite direction in direct proportion to the pelt prices as we speak. Minnesotans are dragging their traps out of the shed and tuning them up already...

I'm hearing some of the major castor buyers are already around $30 where it started out at $60 in the beginning the year.

But lest I sound like a whiner...I'm purty dang happy to see the turn around for beaver prices. An industry hat market report I read a few days ago projects strong growth for the next 5 years for fine western hats. Hopefully they're the 100X's pushing that trend.

"An industry hat market report I read a few days ago projects strong growth for the next 5 years for fine western hats."

Not to be Debbie Downer, but that sounds remarkably like a Canada Goose report about a year before it decided to go fur free. As fickle as fashion is these days, predicting anything down the road 5 years, other than government spending or taxes, is just not credible.

You can go back to the youtube feed and scroll back and get the prices during the live auction, split screen also helps track the catalogue numbers

The part of it I care about is that the industry pays strong attention to these reports and they buy their felt years in advance to prepare. I'll take any positive news I can get for the wild fur market. LOL

I was told by the head beaver guy at FHA that last June's hatters all got shipped to Belgium...so yes, there is a strong international flavor to the hat market.

That is even better than what I had hoped for. I honestly thought that those would be right around the $30 mark.

Now I will find out how that translates to our association sale this Saturday. About 70-80% of my beaver are blanket sized.

I would sell them at Klamath, maybe for a few bucks less. You will have your check by the first week in April.

Why gamble with what will happen in two months, with a check coming in June.

Peeler isn’t a hobby trapper. He depends on beaver pelts for most of his income in the winter. A bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush!!

The timing of the Klamath sale sucks. Buyers will be worn out from NB. Fly home Thursday. Drive to Klamath on Friday. Grade trapper lots of fur all day Saturday. A looooong week.
