Canine shot in Otsego county in 2021 suspiciously labeled a wolf after conflicting dna tests, now labeled wild wolf. Don’t know how to post the link, but Go to Adirondackalmanac.com scroll down and read about all new coyote hunting and trapping regulations pro wolf organizations are calling for.
And an ES EIS will shut down all consumptive and recreational uses that COULD POTENTIALLY impact said animal, real or not...

All those goofy trappers that insisted on calling certain canines Coy-wolves, and cooperating with various State University of New York canine DNA studies can be proud of providing ammunition for enemy anti-consumptive use factions who will use this as a way to back door prohibitions on trapping. w

Wolves travel. The collared wolves of Idaho and Montana that end up in California, Minnesota south to Iowa and other parts south show that. So one wandered in and got shot. Sounds more like an illegal immigrant from Canada issue to me.Is there a problem officer?

The author of that wolf story; Peter Bauer is a real piece of work.

What's even more disturbing is reading the comments at the end.

There are some real nut cases ready to do battle
for NYS's imaginary "wild wolf population".

Sounds like NYS DEC has succeeded in bungling the whole affair
as is their typical incompetent modus operandi.

With a democrat super majority in both the NYS senate & assembly,
We trappers & hunters of wild canids could be in for some rough sledding
if any of these proposals become regulation.

Yeah, no, but oddly, 1 of the DNA studies appears to conclude that the "maternal" line - mother - was coyote. Can't blame the guy who took it, as any yote that big is going to get a lot of attention sooner or later. At least NY has a limited hunting and trapping season and regulations that are easier to defend than the states where they are considered "unprotected".
