I'm kind of surprised that nobody has commented on how cats did on this sale. Must have been pretty awful.

The hatter market needs beaver with underfur.Felt is made from the underfur not the guardhair. Flats dont have underfur. If MS beaver have HVY underfur in winter they will be wanted for hatters. There are a couple videos on utube explaining the felting process.

My bet is those Mississippi's get thrown in with gd dmg and sell for whatever that string goes for. I've not noticed any grade lower than gd dmg for beaver the last few years.

I'm kind of surprised that nobody has commented on how cats did on this sale. Must have been pretty awful. 10,000,000 beaver trappers in the country and a thousand cat trappers. Beaver have been in the tank for a long time so the fact that someone actually bought some is huge news. Cats, not so much. I wouldn't draw too many conclusions from the cat prices at FHA. My intel is that they weren't the best quality.

I dont think FHA is the place to go with cats

So an Iowa beaver that weights 1.5# is worth a different price than a Mississippi 1.5# beaver to the felt market ?

FHA must have updated my account as it shows they sold three mink left over from last year's sale.
2 sold for a dollar each & 1 for .50 Cents.
Only some low end muskrat sold with the best of those being 3X-LG DGD which went for $2.30 each.

Nobody has posted any prices or clearances on cats for this sale so I have no idea what to think of the sale, good, bad or indifferent.

Figure you are asking about bobcats but lynx sold almost 100% and by my maths up at least 30%.

A lot of the bobcats at fur harvesters sell private treaty. For a couple reasons-they are expensive, are bought as needed and also it depends on what colors/styles the furriers need for their market.

If the bulk of the beavers sold at the sale are destined for felt, why would damaged beaver ( scars and cuts from fighting ) even matter to the buyer? They don't to Groeny.
