I have started making suit block for the birds since the cost has gone up. I use lard as the binder, but I know when it gets warm the lard will melt. I like feeding the birds all year round. Any suggestions on solving this problem with melting.

I'll bet you're making suet blocks. Birds don't wear suits. smile

Lard never worked for me. I use beef suet. I will melt it down and fill small cupcake tins. Store them in the freezer till needed. Winter time I will put two in a onion bag and hang it. during summer I just put one in. They always have it ate up before any problems in the summer months. I do not add anything to it. It seems to keep the riff raff away. I will scrape some and put it in the tray feeder during the winter months to help out the other birds that can't hang off the onion sack.
