Anyone on here have a favorite loading for the .243? The rifle has 1:10 twist.

Powder of choice under a Sierra 85 grain hollow point. Kills everything from groundhogs to deer quite well.

Do you want to save the pelts? If you do, full metal jackets are the only way to go. Killed lots of both fox and coyotes with them. Damage is reasonable. Varmint Grenades give you a lot of splash, the entry wounds can be quite large. Every other bullet I tried gave me a large exit, especially if I hit bone. IMR4064 works the best in my .243 Savage

I don’t worry about the fur too much, I like the Federal Premium 55gr ballistic tips. Surprisingly they are not as harsh on hides as one might think. Catch an edge tho and it’s not worth the walk to inspect.
Wicked fast round and certainly a stopper.

70gr Nosler ballistic and 75gr Hornady V-max Loaded with IMR 4064 or Varget. No varmint has ever argued with either of those.

45 gr. 4831 w/ 85gr. Nosler BTSP (if that bullet is still available). 4831 is an WWII cannon powder.

Running 55 grain Sierra Blitz Kings over Varget for 3,600 fps for coyotes. Surprisingly fur freindly if you stay off of bone and the edges. Almost never exits and minimal damage if it does. 24 caliber holes going in. Shoot point of shoulder or head and you'll have large baseball size entrances. BangFlops are the norm. Great on smaller vermin also.

Also running 75 grain Sierra Varminters over WW760 for 3,100 fps. Always exits on broadside coyotes and not so fur freindly. Very accurate round.

Any reason no one running H4350? I have read and read and it seems to be a top performer in .243
Any results with H Hybrid100V? Also read it is a good .243 powder
Just gathering supplies now.....

Thanks all!

The loads with 70-80gr bullets is what I plan to start with. I will have see what I can scrounge up for powder and primers. Not much available locally.

I have killed a lot of fox and coyotes with the 55grain FMJ. Two small holes to sew up.
If I was not worried about fur damage I would go with the ballistic tips.

I use IMR 4350in my deer loads, rits the same as h4350. Good powder

I like or I should say my gun likes 60 grain sierra hp with W760. Nosler 55 grain BTs are tough to beat.

If I was concerned about fur damage I'd use a different gun

I used 80gr sp federal blue box for yrs while calling coyotes. Rarely tracked very far an not much of an exit wound.

100 gr Hornady interlocks, maybe 103 gr ELD-Xs.
Heavier bullet, less expansion, smaller holes ?
