I have a heritage 22 revolver that I’ve used on the trap line a while now and I’m having some issues with the firing pin I was looking at Ruger single six in stainless just wondering if they’re good for that or should I look for something else.

single 6 will shoot forever,or get a single 10 if you're spending that much.

Ruger wrangler!! Very well made at a lower cost. I always felt why pay alot of money for a trapline gun that is going to be used in bad weather mud etc. Higher quality without the expense. JMO

I must have over looked the wrangler, I do like the price of them, I’ll have to see if any of my local stores have one to see how it fits my hands.

the wrangler is a single size in alloy with fixed sight notch and blade and they cerocoate it

it is a good step up form the Heritage Rought rider

safe to carry 6 rounds in with the transfer bar safety

but not the near heirloom gun the Single six SS is.

wrangler https://www.ruger.com/products/wrangler/models.html it is the same size and shape as the single six 4 5/8 barrel

if money is no concern the single 10 would be might nice
https://www.ruger.com/products/newModelSingleSixSingleTen/specSheets/8101.html

if you have to reload every 50 feet like ADC because you have that many coon to skin , then https://www.ruger.com/products/sp101/specSheets/5765.html

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

.single six are sound but heavy. I have to agree with warrior and get a Bearcat . It’s a classic and will last you for ever. only bad Ruger I owned in my life was a 77/22 hornet when they first came out. Did not shoot well. I read the early ones had bad barrels. Looking back to the late 80s it may have been my reloads. Sold it and purchased a 221 fireball. Wrangler may be great. Never looked at one but Ruger stands by their product and USA made. Don’t think you can go wrong. They all mess up . My oldest daughter purchased ,the best 22 revolver Smith and Wesson ever made. It was off so I sent it back and they repaired it . It took 4 months but it came back perfect. All I’m saying I get what you want and if you buy a good one it will last you for ever and your kids will get it. Hope this old man idea helps.

https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1024624440?pid=390415 - got this one for my boy for Christmas, Seems very nice and accurate. I hated the heritage I had because it had a 5" barrel and the standard grip, it was like hauling a brick on your side.

I am surprised nobody has mentioned S&W’s.

I am on my second 34-1, this coastal country is hard on metal, and the 17-4 is about as good of a shooter as I have found.

I don’t have the strength to carry all the ammo ADC goes through in a 200 foot line. grin

Mad_mike I have used Ruger mainly because of the 44 mag they’ve always been able to shoot any load, but maybe now it’s not an issue, I’ll look at the S&W I have trouble getting hand guns to fit my hand right so I do like to handle the gun before I buy.

I have a stainless single six my dad bought me when I graduated high school. It has served me very well. About 5 years ago I lost it. The belt loop on the holster broke and it fell off my side into a rut. I ran over it twice with the side by side burying it in the mud. I walked my trapline route twice and finally found it by luck. Took it home cleaned it really good and was back in business. I also have a wrangler and a bearcat. There is nothing wrong with either, but neither of them have seen the 30+ years use the single six has seen yet.

Got these 2 not long ago, Ruger wranglers been fun shooting them. Put a pile of rounds through them so far no issues easy to clean
