Several months ago, I built a small storage shed for my decoys and found myself with 2 pieces of 2x4 that had been ripped down to about 2 1/8" wide. One piece was about 40" long, the other about 24".
They sat on my little outside work table all winter, and every time I noticed them I thought "Man, those would make a really nice crucifix ". The proportions seemed like they would be just right with a bit of tweaking.
I want to really distress and weather this to be, well...rugged.
Still a bit of handwork to do, but that can wait until tomorrow. I was just really compelled to get this started this week.

It is 36" high and 16" wide.Lap joined at the tee.
I want to pin the joint with a dowel from the back side.

Just happy to be here.

Nice. Now paint it to match your siding and nail it to your door.

God please keep they 19 fallen UBB miners out of trouble up there.

Your skill and knowledge have allowed you to b creative .Putting good use with what seemingly was 2 pieces of scrap lumber and making it into something of value is a credit to you

The "plan" is to hit it with a wire wheel so all the soft grain is removed below the surface of the hard grain. Then I'm going to hit it with the vinegar/steel wool solution and put it out in the sun for a bit.
Thanks all for the kind words

Just happy to be here.

Distressing and weathering is going well. I am surprised how well the vinegar solution works actually.
It's out drying in the sun before I glue it up.

Just happy to be here.
