When did judges become political hacks, rather than objective purveyors of justice, as intended?
When you vote for judges, in MN anyway, they do not list any political affiliation, and I thought there was a good reason for that. Their job is intended to be fair and just application of the law, regardless of the political affiliation of the accused.
What are the checks and balances on our legal system to deal with rouge activist judges?

Liberal judges are not real judges if they don’t follow the rule of law. IMO

its all part of a leftist agenda. When they can't pass stuff thru the legislature they use activist judges to make rulings.

Only thing that can be done is vote. Trouble is the R's really aren't much of a check. They talk a good game and except for a handful they don't do anything.
Either too afraid, don't really believe what they say or they believe in a theoretical view of the gov't which has been corrupted and so doesn't do as they think it should.

I get what you guys are saying, but it seems at one time there was at least some appearance of integrity and objectivity within the judicial system. Now no one even tries to hide it, as leftist judges are openly referred to in the media as liberal or progressive judges.

What was, no longer is. They can’t change who they are because we noticed.

The checks and balances used to be integrity, morality, and truthfulness. Those are the kind of judges we need.
I think the one of the primary reasons we are losing this country so abruptly is we have put judges in high places that lack all those things. Very sad.

So rather than having any checks (consequences) for abusing our legal system, rouge judges are being rewarded with higher level appointments.

If we are now just going to accept that it is ok for judges to be political hacks, maybe it is time to at have them run openly with political affiliation so we a least know what kind of activist we are voting for.

I favor non partisan judge elections. Same for school board and mayor. Elect people with aptitude to govern.

That would be great Charles, if the candidates themselves were non partisan. As it is now, we are picking these folks blindfolded.

Yall got some mighty short memories. Am I the only one who remembers that Roberts wrote the majority opinion regarding the constitutionality of Obomber care?

Most of us have lived the majority of our lives knowing Roe v Wade was an end run around the constitution. Legislation from the bench is a dangerous precedent and now wise men are investigating in previous metals (Lead, brass, and machined metals)

Partisan divide and the politics of personal destruction is what drives the judicial nominating process. I've watched the circus intently over the past forty years. Bork, Thomas, Kavanagh, Barrett and Garland all come immediately to mind.

Most of us here believe we have a decent grasp of the intention behind the 2nd Amendment...we don't need a court to interpret it for us. Parties attemp to achieve through the courts what they can't through the ballot box.
