I did a drop camp hunt on the Sag River. Airboat ride in and back out. Killed a young bull. How did you set up the airboat ride? Sorry, just saw this, it was through one of the outfitters that operate Airboats on the Sag River and it's tributaries. We were camped on the Ivishak River, in Unit 26B. I went with North Star Outfitting, but unless a few things have changed I'm not sure I would recommend using him. In 2018 the cost was $2500.

I don't want to pay for a subscription just to read the article, does it give the man's name in the article?

We used to line a canoe up one of the creeks and then float out with the meat, work smarter not harder. Nowadays they have the Alpacka rafts which roll up to fit in a backpack, I've seen a few guys use that method too.........................

Don't forget to take a fishing rod and ptarmigan are common as well. Every day we would pick up a couple armloads of the little willow sticks and by the end of the week we would have a nice pile so we could have a campfire the night before we floated out. Beautiful country up there but the knats can be brutal at times, make sure your prepared!!
