I've always bought my Popple bud oil from a trappers supply. This year I'm trying my hand at making some. How long does it need to Seep Soak ??? I figure-months but I don't know?

I used to add buds from male trees to my castor.
My fear of moving stairs is escalating!

I made it in my crockpot last time. After a big wind last year a lot of the sticky buds were laying all over under the poplar trees.. Striped the buds off the branches. Packed as many as I could into the crockpot and covered with grape seed oil. Put on high till it warmed up a little, then put it on low for one hour. After that I put it on keep warm for maybe 6 or 7 hours. Shut it off and pressed it down with a potato masher a few times then put it through a sieve with cheese cloth while hot into mason jars

Poplar Bud Infused Oil 1 part poplar buds 2-3 parts extra virgin olive oil (or oil of your choice) Put your buds in a clean glass jar. Pour oil over the buds and cover. Let steep on a dark, cool shelf, anywhere from six weeks to a year or more. Stir or shake the jar every few days for the first few weeks.

It's a great rat lure. Works on beaver also. Spring or fall.
