Hey everybody, been lurking here behind the scenes for quite a while, and lately there's been some threads I would have liked to comment on so decided to join..........finally ! A little about myself, live in "The Yaak" extreme NW MT, do some trapping, am a traditional bowhunter, ride and pack mules,( love my anvilheads ! ), and kill weeds in MT/ID for a living.

I like that back road from Libby to Yaak. Nice shady country. Is that open in the winter ?

Yes it's open, but can be an ugly drive now and then, especially if we get dumped on late Friday as the plow won't get to it until midday on the following Monday,

Driving that back road was a bit tense for me ...there were trees down at an angle from the slope side to drop off. Just high enough to drive under them. The road itself wasn't too bad, as in pot holes, surprisingly. That was in summer I explored that drive. Drove home the point of always carrying a chain saw

After enjoying the town proper, and the skeet gun range , driving back down the main route was so much better ! I decided that on later trips, I will take the main route . It is always good to know of more than one entry and exit , howevah.

Welcome to Trapperman!!! NW Montana is on my bucket list to visit someday. Had a chance to go that way with the men's group from my church ... to Browning Montana if I remember right. I'm in SE Nebr... lots of miles between us. Enjoy the T Man fellowship!!!

They repaved the road last summer fro the summit to the bottom on the Libby side, pretty nice skatin now !

That must take a while to plow. Do they just push the snow over the side of the road ? Didn't look like there was any place to stash it

Ok, I havent been on that road for a few years now. So it is good to have two routes into and out of anywhere.

I have thought it would be interesting to haul a stock trailer full of drafts up that hillside, to the town, either way A lot like driving up a pass.

Welcome! Don’t know what kind weeds y’all got out there, but our guy that sprays every year has a lifetime contract with us, lol. Haven’t had any stickers or even ants since he started spraying 5 years ago. I hope to be out y’all’s way chasing turkeys in a few weeks.

Wow Steve, the Yaak. Always referred to as THE Yaak. I’ve got a Yaak Rod & Gun Club hat around here someplace. I haven’t been up there in years. I remember the (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) Roaring Saloon and the Dirty Shame. I always heard talk of woodland caribou occasionally venturing into the Yaak. Is that still a thing? Are you a marten trapper Steve?
