Great job !!! Our season comes in Saturday. I was on the lake about 8:30 and must have heard 20 different birds gobble . Some up until 10 or so Thanks jbyrd. I took the 410 this morning to make you proud! Here I thought that was all the gun you could handle. I know you’ll be big enough to step up to a 20 gauge in a year or 2 . Take your vitamins and get to bed early and you might even get to a 12 gauge some day!! Just funning. Dead is dead !

Nice job. What made you choose to hunt turkey with a .410? I enjoy handloading and tinkering with shotshell ballistics. 410 with tss allows me the same level of lethality I was accustomed to with 3.5" 12 ga lead shot. No more blue shoulder shooting my turkey gun and a small lightweight gun fits my run and gun hunt style much better than a 3.5" chambered 12 gauge. Just personal preference

Nice Job. Turkey hunting is more fun than Deer Hunting in my opinion. That Gobbling really gets the heart pumping as they Gobble their way in. It does for me anyway!!! Good Hunt and great Job doing your homework. Might be but for 2 things. Ticks and the fish are biting !!!!!

Nice job. I have nothing against a .410 except when adults give it to a kid just because they’re a kid. I haven’t seen a pattern posted on social media that a kid has shot that would do anything other than wound a turkey. In the hands of an adult or someone that patterns a gun and finds that lethal combo, it’s just as deadly as anything out there. My buddy's kid shot this pattern with my 410. Pretty simple to do. Put the dot where the pretty meets the ugly and pull the trigger, like any other gun. 170's in the 10" at 40 yards are the best of the best patterns I ever got shooting LBXR 3.5" #5 lead shot. I've got a couple patterns out of that 410 that are knocking on 200's door Same shooter, 20 yards. That's more pellets in the 10" than a 3.5" 12 ga #5 has in the entire shell

I'm a .410 hater! You couldn't get those patterns out of any of the 4 I had at 10 FEET! Absolute jokes and I couldn't get rid of them fast enough. BUT, haven't tried the modern turkey chokes and ammo in the latest 410's nor will I ever so let's just say I'm biased as I started out with a 12 ga. I can say that my .20 ga set up for my son gets impressive numbers though so there might be something to the smaller calibers.......
Trash your goals and plans for life. Just wing it and you'll never be let down!

I'll agree with you, the old 410's with fixed choke barrels and lead shot aren't ethical to carry in the woods. You've got to be shooting tss with a good turkey choke for the 410 to be worth carrying. 20 gauge is a great turkey gun too

I’ve seen more wounded turkeys run off from a .410 ad a kid to make me wish they’d outlaw them here too. If that’s 40 I’d hate to see 20 or less. I’m not a 40/10” circle kind of shooter. I want wiggle room for up close. Heck, there’s even videos on YouTube of kids and .410’s and the dads saying, “You missed, maybe next time.” Only issue is they didn’t “miss” they hit the turkey, just not enough to kill it. In the hands of an adult, sure, go for it.

That’s unfortunate gentlemen. Hopefully your regs will change to reflect the advancements in shotshell ballistics soon Nope first you need an advancement of idiots running the show

In the hands of an adult, sure, go for it. The pattern at 20 yards is posted. Respectfully, if that load hits the turkey he is dead. He is not running off injured. It sounds like you may have been around some kids that weren’t ready to be shooting at a turkey. It’s not the guns fault they’re not ready. I load shells for my buddy’s kid, she is 5 this year. She shot her first turkey last year at 4 years old. She has pulled the trigger 2 times and has 2 big gobblers to her credit. She was more than ready last year and has shot that 410 a bunch practicing. Kids that aren’t ready and haven’t practiced will make poor shots and injure birds regardless of the gun. Edit to add….the 410 claimed another victim this morning….
