Winter is finally trying to wind down around here. Still with significant snow on the ground, but temperatures moderating a bit. Have pulled the trail cameras for the winter.

On my baited trail cameras, coyotes are not commonly photographed.

Marten are fairly common participants.

Red foxes are very common. However, getting a deer mouse eyeshine is not so common.

Wolves usually take about two weeks to start coming right in to the baits. They're pretty spooky.

The Golden Eagles typically do a lot of "fighting" at the bait sites. Bald eagles are somewhat more mellow. During the daytime, black-billed magpies are in jusrt about every frame, sometimes more than 6,000 frames per day.

I love seeing what comes in to my beaver carcasses set out in the woods. Thanks for sharing your shots!

I one time set out a string of beaver carcasses in eastern Oregon securing them with baling wire to sagebrush. I was amazed how the coyotes made off clean with almost everything... seemingly with little difficulty.

My fear of moving stairs is escalating!

What do you find for Fisher in Idaho? Lemhi used to have a few Otters,Stanley had Skunks so it is surprising what you find.

Nice trail pics, Jack.

Always good to see what is roaming around the estate area.

Fisher pretty well established north of me. From Idaho County up into the panhandle, they are common, especially in Clearwater and Shoshone Counties. I've found otters throughout the state. Skunks weren't in the central mountains until about 1970, then they and 'coons pretty much were found throughout the state.

If one takes a magpie tail feather and run a hot curling iron across it...voula a Super Curl Mallard for your hunting hat..

if you call them their real names " Holstein pheasant" then gunning them becomes a sport
( they are an unprotected bird in my area)
