I have a home in a small town surrounded by bush, and I have three cabins out of town in the bush.
I use them all.

I live on a 10.347 acre farm in a mostly rural area. There's a corn/beanfield across the road. Most of my road is lined by corn/beanfields, hayfields or woods. There's only 16 houses on my entire road.

Our home is on 3.5 acres, and we have four other families with 3 to 5 acres each in our little back road area. We are surrounded by corn/bean fields all around. Pretty open area but sure is quiet.
We are just outside the town of Firth, Nebraska. A little town of about 650 people.
Just right.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

Thirty-some years ago I built a place on ten acres within a village twenty-some miles out from Minneapolis. It was surrounded on the:
  • north by a creek bluff
  • East by a huge "park reserve"
  • South by farmland
  • West by a bit of farmland and more bluffs

Today I look out my south facing windows and see siltation fencing just waiting to contain hundreds of yuppie wannabe city slicker housing units.

We live in a little rural neighborhood. Wouldn’t trade it for anything to be honest. Older son lives catty corner across the street. Great neighbors on either side of us and across the street. In fact, we were wondering what to do for dinner last night and my neighbor to the West called and said I’m bringing you a catfish plate. Catfish fillets and grouper throats with cheese grits and homemade coleslaw.
As most know we adopted and thankfully we have neighbors 2 and 3 doors down with boys his age. The couple next to us has girls, so they count sometimes, lol.
All lots are .5-1.0ac in size. Just a nice little neighborhood with brick homes.

We live on 44 acres in a rural setting. The general area has some clusters of small homes on small lots, some scattered larger homes on 5-10 acres, lots of farmland around.

Man that sounds GREAT. Both my next door neighbors houses are about 20 feet from my house. You farm and north country folks are SO LUCKY. I'd kill to live farther away from people. Too old for that now....

Everyone has at least 2 acres...and no 2 houses the same..cul de sac on both ends.

Zoned ag...so we can have a few sheep and chicken.

No street lights...no town water or sewer

6 minutes from the interstate

Close enough for take out Chinese, pizza, other restaurants ,beer and wine.

Can pee off the back porch...shoot my bow and throw knifes in the back yard (woods )

Catch fisher in my back yard...have deer but can't harvest them...lol..have turkeys, and the occasional bear.

Very quiet and no trouble in the last 30 years

Small town rural community less than 300 people, closest full time neighbor 1/4 mile away. Shoot coyotes and bobcats on bait out my house window all winter on the 250 acres that I reside on. Wild turkeys roost within sight of my back deck. 150 acre High fenced houndsman club across the rd., they train akc registered beagles there on snowshoe hare, have several field trials each year , great club house and people.

House sits on 52 acres with only 8 houses along the 8 or so mile long road. Can whizz off the porch in any direction I want. Pond within sight of the house as well. House is on the end of a dead end road. Seldom even has an airplane go over and 2 1/2 miles from Lake Enid. 7 or so mile from the interstate.
