They have to be well looked after. when on the roam any dog can be trouble, especially if they pack up. A kid was mauled by a pack on an I reservation I worked on years ago. They know how to deal with problems sometimes. The chief announced All dogs to be tied up, and the next day there was 2 guys with rifles on a flat bed truck plugging the loose ones…..and they had quite a pile on the deck.

I'm sorry, I generally don't get involved in these type of disputes but I can't bight my tongue on this one. Your not comparing apples to apples. Not ones in the history of guns has a gun by nature took it upon himself lol to attack any one. Owning large potentially dangerous dogs is a greater responsibility than many peaple can comprehend.
I don't know of any one who has ever been emotionally attached to there gun that they raised from litte puppy and had become part of the family. Responsibility does need to start with peaple. It's generally irresponsible peaple that have problems with Pitt bull attacks. . But just because they are irresponsible don't mean they had I'll intent..
When gun violence occurs its always Ill intent. I believe most on hear have dogs and many are considered part of there family. Most trappers are responsible dog owners I believe, we understand the value of being responsible pet owners. Irresponsible pet owners are, I'm sure the #1 reason we have and are loosing our privileges to be free trappers.

A gun is an inanimate object that doesn't move unless physically moved.
Dogs move by themselves and think for themselves and make decisions on their own.

Most people owning pit bulls can't buy liability insurance of any kind if the insurance company knows they own a pit bull or pit bull mix. Some people lie on the application and say they don't own any dangerous dogs. Then when there's a claim involving a dog bite and the insurance company finds out, they will usually deny the claim, and cancel the policy.

Years ago, one company I wrote insurance for would insure a homeowner if they owned a pit bull, but they had to sign a "Dog Bite Exclusion" form. This meant that if their dog bit someone, they had no coverage. Guess what? These pit bull owners who were so sure their pit bull would never harm anyone refused to sign the exclusion. That was a good move on their part, IMO.

That's what the guy in Mpls. said a few years ago. He went outside to smoke a cigarette and make the mistake of leaving his "wouldn't hurt a fly" pit bull alone with his 3 year old son. The pit bull tore his son apart. When interviewed the man said he was the friendliest dog you could ever want; referred to him as a gentle teddy bear.

I hear this every time about pit attacks. O it was the most friendly dog intill it just snapped. If I want a bird dog I get an English setter. They have been bread to hunt bird longer than there have been shotguns to shoot them with. I will most likely get an end product I want.

Pits were bread for a purpose and are great at it. But they are not pets or to be around children in my opinion.

If you feel comfortable having your small children or grand kids around that sweet pit have at it and I will fill sory for those kids.
Myself I have an avoid contact and if they are on my place shoot on sight . Nothing is worth the risk they pose.

I guess I’m wrong. Musta been lucky with all the pits I’ve run into. Wonder why these attacks don’t happen more often if they’re all ticking time bombs?

They don't have time to become a ticking time bomb if one shows up at my place.
