Sodium for me and just a bit of glycerin. The glycerin isnt for preserving, just makes it moist and easier to work with later on. Anxious to hear what the others have to say on this.

Yes I would like to hear from some of the great lure makers on Tman.
I'm in the process of switching over too Zinc V. use on gland type materials. I do not have enough data to answer your question.

If I want the green castor preserved hard and fast, I will use just enough ever clear to cover the castor to stop the bacteria from forming/continuing and add SB for long-term preservation. Yes, the Everclear will evap off. It is used to stop and kill bacteria fast. It is overkill, I know, but the results are good for green. I learned this by using squid and clams for long-term stabilization in my fishing scents.

Everclear is a hard and fast solvent / astringent / anti-bacterial / and anti-microbial agent with many applications and uses. As long as the material is covered it will be stopped from further aging.
It isn't as cost efficient as it used to be. You can't purchase it here without a state issued permit on file. Luckily, I still can buy it locally. We used to have to drive to WV to purchase it.

I can't buy guns over the counter without a permit, but I can walk right into the liquor store and buy as many bottles as I want LOL You are correct on cost, I only use it when I need something stopped fast. Definitely not a cheap formulation.
