My chemistry professor in college put it to me like this.

You go to work bust your tail to make ends meets and pay ridiculous taxes and get by.

A government leech has ebt, wic, free services from health dept and various other government entities along with free housing and transportation and get by.

Who's the dummy?

The amount of taxes collected doesn't touch the amount of $ the feds spend, thus the 30 trillion debt. And they are accountable to nobody.

Anyone else been given a PIN number to put on their return? They have been sending me one for the past ten years or so.

I have not been issued a PIN. I use my EIN.

I am pretty careful who I give my SS number too. I don't give it to my insurance company, utilities, dr's etc. They ask, even get upset when I refuse, but its illegal to deny service over it. FWIW I dont let them "scan" my driver license into their computer either. So far I have been lucky and no one else has tried to use my number and I have never saw need to get a PIN number.

No PIN has been issued to me either. Same as Lugnut here, just use my EIN.

Something, I did differently this year as it had never been offered (regret it in back of my mind) was when I filed taxes, my tax lady asked me if I just wanted them to take the $ directly out of my account. I hesitated, but then thought oh what the heck, they already have access to my bank accounts anyway if I don't pay. I went a head and signed the paperwork necessary to do it and gave her the account and routing #s.

I've always sent a check to them with my SS# on it. Back in 2020 they never cashed my tax check, and I thought they were just slow due to Covid. That fall I got a letter in the mail and charged me a late penalty for not paying. I argued with them via letter, but responses were 6 months to a year out, and every time I did hear back from them they just added interest to my late fee. Really really ticked me off, but then I just swallowed my pride and paid the stupid $200 dollar fine they charged me for not cashing the check. My time was worth more to me, but the fact of the matter still sticks in my craw. Tax lady said they have a mountain of mail they never opened cause no one was going to work. Since covid, I've been sending my check via certified mail, other than this year.

That's been the plan ever since they instituted capital gains taxes.

Economic liberty begets political liberty.

Can't allow that to happen.

Take it they will. Ive had my taxes done by a very good firm for 35 years or so now, I am nowhere near capable. I write checks every year to the accountants and to Uncle Sam.
First of all with all Ive paid to government and to accountants over that period would make a very nice retirement account. Secondly as like many of you writing checks to the gov at this time is tough to swallow given what taxes we pay already.
What isnt taxed anymore in every day life, right down to added taxes on phone bills, utilities, some clothing now, some groceries now, sales taxes in general, etc. I love it when they tax the poor, who then need more from taxpayers to cover the cost of their living.
And the country is trillions in debt.
What isnt backwards any more?

I'm pretty sure the voters voted for this. They love free stuff and don't care about borrowing or printing to get it. It is the flaw of mob rule.

The PIN number is a Turbo Tax thing I think. I get one. Its to help prove who you are so people aren't false filing your taxes for you and getting your return. My pin is 5 digits I think.

Think how easy figuring your taxes will be in a few years when we go cashless. You won't have to do our taxes, the government will just take the appropriate funds out of you account automatically.

Just think how great this will be; it will put all the drug dealers out of business, no more pesky homeless folks hitting you up for money, no more illegals working under the table for cash, etc, etc.. Think how easy this idea will be for the deep state folks to sell this concept to the ignorant masses.

I don't do turbo tax. My PIN comes from the IRS.

For those that forgot, or never knew in the first place, a regressive tax system was one of the key features of Karl Marx's Communist Manifesto. Make the rich pay their fair share......let the peons skate. That way you can gain the support of the masses to keep you in power. When top 10% of earners are paying 90% of taxes, something has gone wrong.

The only way out of this to take something from everyone. Minimum needs to be something like 5 to 10%. If you only make $1 , you pay a nickle of that to the guvmint. Then if they decide to spend more, they have to take more. Everybody needs to have some skin the game.

Probably will never happen, but needs to.

Easy to vote your way into socialism, but impossible to vote your way out of it.

"The U.S. has a progressive income tax system that taxes higher-income individuals more heavily than lower-income individuals, with the top 1 percent of taxpayers paying 37.3 percent of all income taxes compared to just 3 percent paid by the lowest half of income earners.0 There are seven tax brackets in 2022 and 2023: 10%, 12%, 22%, 24%, 32%, 35%, and 37%. Source: Tax Foundation

The way to beat the man is stay below 12%.
