Are you going to bath, brush and blow dry him before he meets the ladies? Seems that's what the kids do tith their cattel at the fair. He looks nice. I was thinking about AI instead of keeping a bull. Thought I may eliminate geting out issues. Went to an AI workshop and learned how to do it but it's only 60% effective they said.

25 yrs ago I was hiring an AI guy...he told me we'll do this and we'll do that and when we're done -Throw in a good bull to clean up.

I thought...I'll throw in a Good bull for Everything. Skip AI

This is what my neighbor says about his British Whites, calm.

I find the Herfords in general to be really calm as well. My Angus mommas are... well they're good mammas.

Don't know much about buying and selling bills.
Knowing what you sold the last one for, how much did you pay for this one?

He looks nice soaked. That's why I was joking about shining him up like t he kids do at the fair. If the breed si calm layed back and not going to be a problem getting out when I'm gone for work several days and the wife has to deal with that sounds like the answer I have been looking for vs AI.

As you said many at the AI workshop also keep bulls. When I asked why it was to be sure the ladies got breed. So why AI. They said they could get a straw from a million dollar bull for $40 and if that took would improve their heard genetice. How would they know who the daddy is at that point? Sounded like I was missing something for sure?

I AI then turn the bull out a month later. Bull is herford and I AI angus. In general baldie calves that line up with herford date are bull bred, black claves that line up with AI, you get it.

I gave her asking price. $1,300. 00

She's going from cross bred over to Registered British whites

She's getting $2,300.00 for Registered calves from that breed.

I was sent to AI school while a senior in high school. I was getting 70 to 75% conception rates first breeding, and about 90% after 2nd. If you haven't stuck em by then, something unusual about the cow's timing. But to get there (without hormone synching), you have to do a good job of heat detection. Every morning, every night......for a couple months. But you do that anyway with cattle. Sticking them is easy. The timing of when to stick em is where success or failure is found.

Advantage is you have access to best genetics for fraction of the cost of a bull. And in theory, could have a different bull for each cow. Not having a bull around to feed and otherwise deal with is also a plus.
