look at what 10 oz silver or gold was worth in 1929 start of the depression or when Nixon pulled the plug on it. Now compare what it would have cost and what it is worth today. Now take the same amount of money and look at what it would be worth had you invested it in the S&P 500 and tell me what the better investment was. Land would have been a better investment than both. What's your point.

Holding tangible precious metals is not an investment. It is insurance preserving wealth. A way to fight inflation and/or destruction of world fiat currencies. Investing in precious metals should be done through ETF's, mutual funds, mining stocks. These are traded in fiat currency with the click of a mouse. The only true money is precious metals, with gold being#1.Folding currency used to be money when it was backed by gold. Roosevelt started the destruction of money, Nixon finished it off. Our currency now is backed by debt and production of more debt out of thin air. (Printing of more fiat to pay on the debt, creating higher debt) Crypto may fit in there some where. Now or in future????

Always check the green change to cash machines at grocery stores. They will not take in silver?? I cashed in about a $100 in change one time and had several pre 64 quarters and nickels kicked back. When my son was around 3, he stuck his hand in the box and came out with a mercury dime. Just walk by and look in the return slot.

^^^^This. Physical gold is a hedge against inflation and security against what can become worthless currency. Precious metal nvestments for an actual gain are made by investing in solid, profitable, gold mining companies.

Was able to score me some pre64 dimes yesterday. Getting harder to find. I sure like the way they shine and clink!

I bought me $100 worth of Nevada Goldbacks the other day and they just came in. Hoping it was money well spent, but I don't know.
Had a buddy coin collector that told me he took one and put in a crucible and melted it down and all of it just turned to fumes. So, if I screwed up at least it wasn't too much.

^^^^ One of those Nevada Goldbacks only contains 31 milligrams of gold (1/1000 of an ounce). Unless it was properly fluxed when he melted it, the gold is most likely still in the crucible, stuck very thinly to it's walls.
