Push this issue and the guy will go elsewhere because he won't be happy unless he can whistle and sing. I don't think that is in your or your bosses best interest as he is a good worker. Good workers are hard to find these days and it is really not a big enough issue to lose him over. Also, if he does go and the boss hires someone else, what might the new person do that you won't like? You need to appreciate people for what they do well and accept some things you wish were different.

All replies are good advice and why I brought it here, thanks. I’m gonna continue to deal with it and have a better outlook. I can’t wait to retire!

I've been at a place that what was done was everyone had their day of what they wanted to listen too. For OP's day he could have nothing on that would be his choice.
Then he'd have to put up with the other guys stuff when it was on. Only fair.

He is appreciated and has freedom and benefits he likely won’t get elsewhere. Three days a week he leaves at two to pick up his three young kids at school. He has 7 kids total with three women who he is not with and the women were always the problem. He was a deadbeat dad to the first four kids. His only boy is a traney likely because he wasn’t there. He filed bankruptcy a couple years ago and like everything else was his former wife’s fault. He is a health food snob but is a smoker. He dislikes all Jews. He regularly attends a menenite church and also attends a Russian Orthodox Church ( neither is a bad thing but confusing to me). He has maybe never voted yet will tell you everything that is wrong with our country. Our only argument was this last Presidents’ Day and he was biching about what a worthless holiday it was and I asked why he didn’t vote and it escalated from there. 911 was Bush’s doings , the earthquake in Turkey was man made, I could go on.

In that case ear plugs might actually be a reasonable option

Ask him if he has a good dental plan cause if he doesnt stop that annoying whistling he is going to need it.

Whistlers just don't seem to understand that not everybody is a fan. For me it's fingernails on a blackboard.

Two years doing this is to long now to be asking to tone it down, find you some ear plugs that do it for you
both will be happy with the outcome, no need to make a major production out of something simple !

Bring one of those speakers that the young folks have, download the most obnoxious, 1980's, big-hair, head banging music on your phone. Blast it for a couple of days. See if that gets his attention.

I agree the length of time he has been doing it means I have no case to put a stop to it now. I just got hearing aids so the ear plugs are out. I’m going to get a quality pair of noise canceling ear protection. Thanks again for your replies..

Where I work what little we are in the shop we listen to very conservative talk radio in the am, when that;s over it gets turned to a music station. When someone comes into the shop , whether it be other employees or a customer the radio immediately gets turned way down or most times off, out of respect for the other folks and also for better communication. This is not a company rule just something we started doing on our own years ago. as for your situation I would wear ear plugs and ear muffs together, I've run equipment my entire life from a very young single digit age, wish I had muffs and plugs all those years maybe my ears wouldn't ring like mad 24/7.

Ear plugs and ear muffs should have been on you long time ago!

At the least he makes your boss happy!
