Staring my phase two and gotta say, this stuff is pretty fun. Instructors are funny and pretty good teachers....at least I think so. Idk after working with all the crusty NCOs welders cattle men and the like these guys aren't that bad as far as getting chewed out goes .

I hope they are crusty enough to teach you how to not get killed. Pay attention and please stay safe.

Lil their great at actually teaching. And their safety but out the wazoo which is a nice change of pace fromnsome other other work I've done. Some of the other guys are complaining but i have gotten cussed out twelve times or had various tools thrown at my head so i call that pretty good natured lol.

Wolfie be a sponge and soak up all that knowledge from those instructors. The companies in NY harbor are begging for help. A lot of tugs docked because of no help. These guys are making serious money.

Good decision to go for your Tankermans. From my experience not as many people have them so they are always in high demand, and significantly better pay. With it comes big responsibility-moving petroleum products around in an environment where even a tiny spill is a big deal.

Wolfie, are you gg2b on a Pusher or Tow / Tug Boat as a Tankie?

Achieving something you have wanted to do is great. I am not sure I quite understand what you are up to ? Do you have a job or are you just in a training phase where you learn and then apply for a jobs ?

Well I'm just a base level deckhand right now but their fast tracking us. One week of class room and basic ,two weeks in the fleet , ten days at home then a 40hr tankermans class

If you spend two weeks at sea, you'll get a better idea of what's ahead in this field, but it will only be a minimal "taste" of what's it's all about.

Keep track of your "sea time". If you stick with it, get your captains license some day, and you'll be in fat city.

Wolfy the greatest man I ever worked for could tear you up a butt better than no other. Man you had it right when he was done with you.
Come quitting time it was NEVER brought up again, the paychecks were never late, and in the end you knew he cared a ton for his guys.
I miss that guy, they quit making them.

Your on a terrific path, stay focused and do well. Sure you screw up, that’s what beginners do for a living. Your doing good things.
