I have a 1-1/2 trap that looks very similar to my Montgomery step ins. It’s says “Northern Trap Co” on the pan. Can anyone tell me about this trap?

Northern? or Northwoods?

Northern Sport company I believe made a small line of traps at one time. Saw a picture somewhere of a small coilspring trap with their name stamped on the pan. At the time I think the company had a different name.

I remember their ads around late '70's early '80's.Never used their traps,I don't think they were around for long.

I doubt if I know a lot about them but I'd like to see a couple pictures of it if you could post it.

if i remember right, there were some monty 1 1/2 round jaws stamped with that companies name. id be curious to see a pic too.

If I remember right they were made overseas.

My buddy says his collector trap book says $25 in excellent condition. It may be a little higher now as I'm not sure the age of his guide book.

Those traps were produced for Ed Molnar. Owner of Northern Sport Co., Elyria OH. Built by Montgomery trap Co. The round jaw 11/2 Montgomery was used as the basis with additional features specified by Ed

IF companies like Sleepy Creek (and possibly others) are considering re-designing traps, I think the square jaw face version of a strong well built trap like this might have a market for water trappers. BUT the wild fur market would have to be strong enough to dictate those changes.
