Looking at 6 inches of snow here tomorrow night. Wish I was hunting mushrooms. Thanks for keeping the dream alive for us northerners.

X2. Never have found a morel in my part of Arkansas. Don't think they are real common here but I'm no expert seeing as I've never hunted for wild edibles/mushrooms. Do enjoy the threads and wish I could experience the hunt y'all seem to enjoy.

They're just getting started here in East Central Missouri. Made a little loop of a woodswalk yesterday and thought I was gonna get skunked. Thirty yards from the truck I got brought to a sudden stop by the sight of eleven nice ones in a yard diameter fairy ring off of a hickory stump.

I'm thinking there's not going to be much of a season here in southwest WI again. It's been way to cold.

I had a former co worker tell me several years ago that an old timer told him long ago that the weather stays cool/cold until the river drops and you know what that has actually held true in this area from my memory. If you look at the 10 day forcast for us it's highs in the 50's at the top end and lows in the 30's. Mushrooms aren't going to pop at those temps.

With the warm winter we had here in NE Ohio I thought they'd pop a lot sooner. I've been out twice and just found a handful of real small ones. Still
a week or two away.

Yes. She got her nest in middle of a known patch, since it was cold Sunday I left hoping she'd return soon.

My wife was putting out an oriel feeder by side the house. Yells for me like she was calling one of the dog. I did tell her not to do that. Lol
She says you're going to want to see this. There right up against outside basement wall. One little morel with top broken off. Well dang me. We have found them in the yard almost every spring since we have lived here. I have to say I have never seen even one this close to the house. Never seen one this side of the driveway, been years since found any that side of the house. The other side of the driveway.
So this little numb gets to be first one of the year for us. Usually once I find one in my yard which warms early than woods. Means be a week or two before see any in the woods. Weather been so goofy so hard to say.

I found a pile of morels today in mulch around a home. Probably 200 or so black ones. Been a crazy year with the weather but it's been good the past week [Linked Image]
